About the Recycling Today’s Electronics, Plastics Recycling Conference & Trade Show June 10-12, 2007
The World Reuse, Repair and Recycling Association is a non-profit trade coop dedicated to "Fair Trade" standards for international recycling. WR3A supports legitimate reuse, repair and recycling businesses overseas by forming a group of USA suppliers who maintain a high standard of quality. Our members believe that exporters who mix unrepairable and toxic junk into loads are abusing the environment, undermining efforts to bridge the digital divide, and sacrificing sustainable employment. WR3A uses civil law - contracts and purchase orders between reputable businesses - to enforce fair trade environmental standards. We negotiated purchase orders for CRT glass to glass recycling with Samsung (15 full Containerloads in the first 6 weeks of the contract) and now have a new purchase order for mixed glass with a metal smelter in Mexico. Only companies which show they are dealing with the bad glass are allowed to ship to refurbishing factories, which pay top dollar for good CRTs. In return, they get an audit trail for their loads, and assistance from WR3A in filing the correct paperwork. The result is affordable recycling and clean exports - a win-win scenario. In 2006, WR3A unveiled a new "e-certification" program, to help generators and recyclers match recycling needs with appropriate services. Learn more about the e-certification here.
